As you know I love scraps and playing with colors. This time I was going through my stash of upholstery grade fabric scraps. Beautiful prints, great quality Marimekko fabric but long narrow strips were not wide enough... What shall I make from them?
First I thought of makeup pouches but having too many seams on heavy upholstery grade fabric would have made them very thick and difficult to work with.
Then I decided to combine only 2 prints and make a longer but narrower zipper pouch that would work well for eyeglasses. Myself, I prefer zippered bags for spectacles, they protect them well and eyeglasses stay inside unlike the type of glasses holders without zipper (I have few of those, absolutely beautiful handmade felted eyeglasses cases, which I can use only at home but never inside my bag).
As as result I created a new line of zipper pouches for reading glasses.
One of a kind and you can be sure that your best friend will not have the same!=) They are bright and colorful, feature 2 complimentary Marimekko prints. I interfaced the outer side with fusible fleece for durability and structure and added those wonderful decorative stitches my PFAFF sewing machine has.
I used 100% thin polyester batting for extra protection.
I made quite few of these cases, some of them were given as Christmas gifts to my friends and family and got only positive feedback. So, now the new collection of Eyeglasses cases / pouches has been added to the shop!
